After checking out the sharks in Underwater World, I was hoping that I wouldn't see any of these baddies at our next stop: Surfers Paradise. To say that this place is commercialized is a major understatement... while trying to catch a wave or just relaxing on the beach, you'll find yourself flanked by an impressive skyline of luxury condos which stretches out as far as the eye can see -- pretty sucky since the buildings end up blocking out the sun in the later part of the day. This certainly isn't a place to find peace and solitude, but at least the surf's good and you'll find several surfing schools nearby where you can learn the basic moves and the lingo to go hang with the locals.
